Arranging an assessment
Eyelid assessment takes place in the outpatient clinic of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital, 301 Huafu Avenue North Section, Jiulongpo District, Chongqing. Call the outpatient line, or use the channel described on the appointments page, and say that you are asking about your eyelids so that the right clinic time is booked.
What the consultation examines
The assessment looks at the lid at rest and in movement, at how much skin rests on the lashes, and at how much remains when the brow is held in its resting position. The position of the lid margin relative to the pupil is noted, the brow is examined at rest, and the eye is checked for dryness, for how completely it closes, and for any history of thyroid disease or previous eyelid surgery. You should leave knowing which of the three findings is present, how much skin can be taken, and what the alternatives are.
What to bring
Bring a list of your medication, including anything that affects clotting and any eye drops you use regularly, and any record of previous eyelid or brow surgery. Tell the team about dry eye, blepharitis, thyroid disease and any history of keloid scarring. Old photographs of your face are more useful than you would expect, because they show whether the lid has changed or has always been this shape.
The closure check and the review visit
How well the lid closes is recorded before the operation and checked again afterwards, because it is the measurement that decides how much skin can safely be taken. A review at about one to two weeks is part of the plan rather than an extra appointment, and a later review at around three months is when dryness, tightness and the crease height are judged with the swelling gone.
